Flora Hibberd – Silent Movie Baby

“Silent Movie Baby” opens “Mammoth” and it’s the fourth single from the album.
Flora Hibberd is a London-born, Paris-based singer-songwriter, and “Mammoth” is her second album, ten tracks due October 16 via 22TWENTY. It follows her acclaimed 2025 debut “Swirl” (produced by Shane Leonard with musicians who play alongside Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens and The Tallest Man On Earth).

“Silent Movie Baby” runs on bouncing electronic lines under distorted vocals, built around a feeling Hibberd describes plainly: “sudden, big, unhelpful desire crashes into your life and changes everything.” The song is specifically about trying to escape a structure and ending up using that same structure to tear itself down instead. The video, directed by her bandmate Victor Claas, matches that mood with a deliberately rough, found-footage look, all lo-res and collage-like, leaning on unsettling nature imagery. Cold-blooded creatures moving at dusk, insects overtaking something sweet, the kind of thing that keeps resurfacing no matter how hard you try to bury it.
